The Green Drinks holiday party this year will be held at Home Eco, St. Louis’ own green general store! Bring in a canned good for our food drive and get a raffle ticket for drawings for cool prizes. Green Drinks partners with the Sierra Club for a 40-minute showing of Coal Country, the stunning new documentary about mountaintop removal coal mining and the impacts of coal on our health and the future of our world. Discussion will follow with input from local activists and experts. Doors open at 6:30, viewing begins at 7:00. Suggested donation: $3

Join us for the annual Green Drinks Green Car Show (aka the Alternative Transportation Show) on Tuesday, Sept. 15th at 6:30 at the Bottleworks. We promise a lively interaction exploring the future of transportation, from trains & mass transit to bicycles and biodiesel. Representatives from Amtrak, TrailNet and Citizens for Modern Transit will talk about alternatives to the personal car, and others will demonstrate electric, biodiesel and human powered vehicles! Did you know? And if you walk or bike or take the bus to the event, you’ll be entered into an hourly drawing for FREE BEER! (or wine, or lemonade–your choice).
Read any good books lately? Like most of us, you probably remember the book that opened your eyes to the environmental movement or inspired you to become involved in planet preservation. Well do tell! Join us this month for a back-to-school book swap and book discussion. Bring in your extra books with a green theme to trade, sell, or give away and get free admission! If you can’t bear to part with any of your books right now, come out anyway. Clue us in to your favorite titles and authors. Lively discussion guaranteed. $3 cover
