Take a break from Thanksgiving preparations and come to learn about local options for holiday shopping.

The Foundrie, A collective of indy craft artisans selling handmade wares in their own store in Chesterfield Mall.

FORAI (Friends of Refugees And Immigrants), a micro-business enabling refugees and immigrants to supplement their incomes through the production of quality, marketable handicrafts.

Partners for Just Trade, a non-profit, faith-based organization located in the Tower Grove neighborhood that builds partnerships between producers living in extreme poverty and consumers in North America.

Verde Kids, A Webster Groves boutique featuring eco-friendly clothing and toys.

Home Eco, St. Louis’s green general store in the South Hampton neighborhood.

Kakao Chocolate, exceptional artisan all-natural chocolates and confections with locations on South Jefferson and in Maplewood.

This is a cash only sale, and there is an ATM at Bottleworks.

Wanna sneak peak at the next Festival hosted by the Missouri Botanical Garden? Join the EarthWays Center at the next Green Drinks event on September 20th!

Hosted at the Schalfly Bottleworks (another Festival sponsor!), the preview night will run from 6:30-8:30pm. Meet select exhibitors, interact with educators, and check out what the Green Homes & Great Health Festival is all about. This year’s bus design will be unveiled, and you can even sign up to volunteer! It’s a great way to plan to your day at the Festival or find out what you’ll be missing if you can’t make it on September 24th.

An outgrowth of the Slow Food Movement, Slow Money is a national movement encouraging investing “as if food, farms and fertility mattered.” The group emphasizes connecting investors to the places where they live, creating vital relationships and new sources of capital for small food enterprises. Local Slow Food organizer Kelly Childs will talk about her efforts to kickstart Slow Money in St. Louis. Meet Kelly and hear from other independent businesses about the challenges and opportunities they’ve encountered.

3.22.11 – Nuclear Crisis in Japan: What does it mean for Missouri?

As Japan reels from ongoing nuclear disaster, members of U.S. Congress are discussing a moratorium on new nuclear reactors; at the same time the Missouri General Assembly is considering legislation that would allow Ameren Missouri to charge ratepayers $40 million for a permit to build a second nuclear reactor in our state.

”No CWIP!” Coordinator Ed Smith of the Missouri Coalition for the Environment joins Green Drinks this Tuesday for a look at SB 321 and SB 406 in the Missouri legislature. We’ll explore how investments in energy efficiency can offset the need for any additional plants — nuclear or otherwise. A portion of the evening’s proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross for relief efforts in Japan.
