Join the EarthWays Center at the next Green Drinks event on September 20th! Hosted at the Schalfly Bottleworks (another Festival sponsor!), the preview night will run from 6:30-8:30pm. Meet select exhibitors, interact with educators, and check out what the Green Homes & Great Health Festival is all about. This year’s bus design will be unveiled, and you can even sign up to volunteer! It’s a great way to plan to your day at the Festival or find out what you’ll be missing if you can’t make it on September 24th. Where: Schlafly Bottleworks When: Tuesday July 19th, 6:30 to 9pm An outgrowth of the Slow Food Movement, Slow Money is a national movement encouraging investing “as if food, farms and fertility mattered.” The group emphasizes connecting investors to the places where they live, creating vital relationships and new sources of capital for small food enterprises. Local Slow Food organizer Kelly Childs will talk about her efforts to kickstart Slow Money in St. Louis. Meet Kelly and hear from other independent businesses about the challenges and opportunities they’ve encountered. Suggested donation $3

Where: Schlafly Bottleworks When: Tuesday March 22nd, 6:30 to 9pm As Japan reels from ongoing nuclear disaster, members of U.S. Congress are discussing a moratorium on new nuclear reactors; at the same time the Missouri General Assembly is considering legislation that would allow Ameren Missouri to charge ratepayers $40 million for a permit to build a second nuclear reactor in our state. ”No CWIP!” Coordinator Ed Smith of the Missouri Coalition for the Environment joins Green Drinks this Tuesday for a look at SB 321 and SB 406 in the Missouri legislature. We’ll explore how investments in energy efficiency can offset the need for any additional plants — nuclear or otherwise. A portion of the evening’s proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross for relief efforts in Japan. Suggested donation: $3 |
